Legal Tender $5 Bill (1863 – 1864)

This is one of the less imaginative five dollar bills that was issued. It was used for legal tender notes that have dates of 1863 and 1864. Condition is extremely is important when trying to determine values for paper money from this era. A portrait of Alexander Hamilton is engraved at the bottom right corner of each bill. Otherwise the bill is just a mesh of numbers and geometric designs. A lot of these bills have low serial numbers. Nothing was numbered higher than 99999
