$2 National Bank Notes
Two dollar national bank notes are always popular and usually rare. Due to the way sheets of national currency were printed, for every three one dollar notes that were printed, only one two dollar note was issued. So not many were printed. These were last printed in 1878. 1,378 national banks printed two dollar bills. Today there are right around 2,000 $2 national bank notes known to exist. That is for the entire country. The bill pictured below is from a bank in Connecticut. Your exact note will likely be from a different bank. Sales@AntiqueMoney.com
The note you see above is from the series of 1875. All 1875 notes have a rounded red seal seal. Despite saying series of 1875 these notes will also have a date written in cursive. The cursive charter date could be from 1863, 1864, 1865, 1866, 1867, 1868, 1869, 1870, 1871, 1872, 1873, 1874, 1875, 1876, or 1877. That date is when the bank was first opened. All early national bank notes can have serial number color and charter differences. The value of a $2 national bank note is really just based on the serial number, charter, and condition of the bill.
