Most series 471 military payment certificates for the 50 cents denomination are extremely common. However, there is one powerful exception. If the serial number on your note does not end with the letter B, then you have what is know as a replacement. Standard issue notes have a serial number that begins and ends with B. Replacements end with a number. Replacements are usually worth at least $1,000 in decent condition. Otherwise, there isn’t much to look for on 50 cent series 471 MPCs. They are simple and have the standard text “for use only in united states military establishments by united states authorized personnel in accordance with applicable rules and regulations.”
